My favorite cat, Toby, came down with FUS. I had him in and out of the vet for a month. Spent $1000 which my husband wasn't happy about. Toby had a catheter sewn in, had to give him medication. I thought I had gotten them down his throat but found out, after I had to have him put to sleep, that he had spit out the meds and they were in the lounger we had him lying on. Maybe he knew it was a lost cause. Vet said his ureter was too thin for any crystals to be passed. I would have hated to have him go through that pain again.

When I was giving my one cat pills for fleas, all I had to do was put it in with some broken up treats. She'd eat the pill right along with everything else. Now that I have three, though, it might be tougher. smile001.gif

My young kitty, the pacifist, is on his 3rd round of meds now. We can't agree on a delivery method - he's actually scratched me! Mostly he wriggles away; very skinny, very fast!

When I gave Fannie liquid medicine, she spit it all over her and me

I have always been able to get the job done, but I am sure I have been scratched in the process. Part of the job.

Recently, i had to give Pumpkin a coarse of antibiotics, let's just say he won a few rounds but in the end i survived and the vet said that he was fine....i tried doing the put it way back on his tongue method which was by far the worst way.....he took the medicine best crushed up in moist cat food until, he figured that out and would eat around the tiniest of pieces....

The worst med problem I had was with my puppy when he got parvo, I had to give him antibiotics every four hours and force water down his throat since he wouldn't drink. Until he died, all I had to do to make his tail look like he had a second dick was to take out the turkey baster.

No, I've had worse damage with just playing.

I have never had an issue with giving my pets meds or claw trimming. I've been scratched in the process of trimming claws, but not terribly. I have not had to give current girls any meds, but heart cat had a few meds from time to time. I can't say she liked it, but we got it done. I think she trusted me and she was very bonded to me.
