It is not considered a genetic flaw in cats. (It in now way indicates poor health).
I also had a dog with an extra toe on each front paw. I just didn't check under the hood before I brought her home. And neither of us ever cared. It was one more claw to trim though.

@SeaGreenEyez Up here in New England they're also called Captain's Cats or Ship's Cats [en.m.wikipedia.org]. There are more here than anywhere due to the sea trade and the luck they were believed to bring on board. ???
Think of the trouble they would be if they had opposable thumbs!
