But he doesn't clearly distinguish between Western propaganda and the reality. The reality was that the 1st world alliance was about promoting capitalism and imperialism.

The new US alliance is similarly about the same aggressive economics. Russia and China are trying to create an alternative to Western economic dominance.

The difference now is that whereas Russian China before promoted communism as an alternative, they now promote different forms of capitalism. China's new capitalism is in no way as exploitative nor military aggressive as Western capitalism.

The problem with such liberal commentators is that their analysis is not incisive enough. Economic interest is what motivates foreign policy with nice words like democracy and human rights being used as excuses for the pursuit of such economic interests.

But liberals confuse the official window dressing as the reality.
