WWI and WWII were started for very different reasons. Germans had good reason to feel more resentful after WWI, reasons beyond just the scope of their punishment. They had not been so clearly the aggressors and instigators as was the case with WWII. Still, it sure would have been nice to have had a Marshall Plan for the Weimar republic. Right now, isolationist sentiment in a portion of the U.S. population, championed by President Orange Cheeto, is again running away from the very ideas that helped keep the peace after WWII. (sigh)
That and the depression was what brought about the rise of Hitler. It took hard times for people to vote for someone with such radical ideas. Kind of like the 2008 stock market collapse brought about the rise of that radical president Obama.
