While I was at the Mendocino Coast Bot Garden I checked out their dahlias as they have some nice ones, though they're still a few weeks away from the height of bloom. These photos are from 2013 when I managed to get up their on August 5th.
Personally I don't grow any except for the tall one, D. imperialis because the foliage doesn't keep up with the flowers .. and you get to look at that for a longer season. Also you need to stake them with tomato baskets or something to keep them upright. Okay I'll shut up about the foliage. The flowers are amazing.
Have you ever been to Swan Island Dahlias farm in Oregon? It's a floral overload!
I think I may have heard about here. Sounds like it could make the kind of display that massed tulips can.
Dahlias and roses have one thing in common: after you grew one, they become a habit; and one is never enough. Yours are stunning!
Lol. I'm now finding that out with the dahlia tree. I'm hoping to strike a lot more in spring and start a "forest".

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
