My latest project. My third and most recent amateur masonry project. My garden soil is horrendously dense clay with abysmal drainage. And grapes can't grow in such soil, I am told. I just bought my first muscadine, a self-fertile variety of deep purple, sweet fruit. We shall see. But it needs sun and good drainage, and my tiny yard really had only one suitable space. So out went a few useless (non-native) boxwoods, an in went a row of stakes for training wire I still have to install and this brick planter. I should still be able to let the salvias and butterfly weed grow along the 20 ft. length of it without issue, I hope.
I have to wait a while for the mortar to strengthen before I fill it with soil.
Unfortunately this site is being glitchy again and won't let me import any photos.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
