Digging the hole for that blue spruce.
Army training! How to probe for land mines!...... or more importantly, the irrigation system.

There are 2 pipes or pipe & wire there. What are we looking at?

irrigation system and the wire is there to provide an electronic "metal detector" signal if you're trying to find it. There was a drainage pipe under both.

When I planted my pecan tree, I dug and backfilled a hole 6x6x4. My yard is Austin Chalk, soft by rock standards, hard as hell by dirt standards.
Good luck and keep up the good work

"Proud Boy's gardening knife..... "

Are you a proud boy?

@Cutiebeauty
Ha.... I'm just a mean old man. Took it away from a poser at a youth group I assist in mentoring.
😆🍷

@bigpawbullets
You aren't a mean old man.. As far as I seen.. You're a tough guy, who cares about others.. Yes?

@Cutiebeauty
I care about others who are in my tribe. You're included.

@bigpawbullets I hope your tribe is America.

Posted by FernappleIt is time for the flowering of one of my favourite roses.

Posted by FrostyJimBerries do very well in Alaska... I'm growing strawberries, honeyberries, raspberries, gooseberries, and black currants ...oh and rhubarb too - it goes well with berries in a pie, jam, or cobler!

Posted by FrostyJimSo that's how it works...

Posted by FrostyJim...why didn't I think of that?

Posted by FernappleIts the time for one of my favourite flowers, Primula florindae, the giant cowslip to flower. The cinnamon scent fills the garden on warm days.

Posted by FrostyJimIt's almost salad season. It is amazing how fast my salad greens grow in just 3 weeks since setting out my seedlings in our long Alaska summer days...

Posted by FernappleNature is the best gardener still. All nature asks is a little space, that's all. Maybe no more than a slightly leaky fall pipe, and a bit of neglected wall, and you have a perfect tiny garden.

Posted by JolantaNematodes are helpful too.

Posted by KateOahuThe Ala’ala wai nui wahine in my little terrarium that I planted a month ago is blooming.

Posted by FrostyJimI picked my first 2024 rhubarb... so I made cobbler - yum!
