Just harvested greens from my cold frames on Christmas Eve day here in Maine, zone 4. Baby spinach, chard, mache, and claytonia. The spinach is almost too sweet. The below freezing temps sweeten everything. The greens have made it this far into winter and now more light every day! Love the cold frames, can't believe the greens can stay green and lovely right through, makes winter seem far less wintery. ~Fern

Neat!! I am new to growing greens, (producing most via basement hydroponics). After reading that kale, spinach, and cress do well over winter, I planted those outside. So far so good. I just need to be patient. Your post gives me hope! 😀

We once had a cloche in our Seattle home. All winter we had Cilantro and even Greek Oregano. Amazing what a layer of glass will do.

I usually have greens growing indoors under lights up here in our Alaska winters - but got busy with other hobbies this year... gardening is what I do all summer!

I'm still just moving my stuff in and out. But I'm way farther south (Dallas) 8b. I've got my cold weather stuff doing well, my garlic, onions and fennel all look great.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
