Interacting with another member I learned something about one of my favorite plants. This is not a tree hugger’s tree. I planted one in my Seattle home and it is now well over 20’. I have one at my present and it is only about 5’. This tree, ‘Monkey Puzzle’ grows in Chile and is a slow growing (therefore hardwood) pine. Its nuts were harvested and sold in England at the turn of the 19th century. It is almost an endangered species. This is an amazing video about this prehistoric plant.

Yup, a still living dinosaur.
Those are beautiful trees, and found throughout the Oregon Willamette Valley area.Tbere was a huge specimen in my home town of Hillsboro that I was always fascinated by, and likely helped to foster my love of plants!

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
