My mystery squash have bloomed! I had saved some seeds last year which I think where from a pumpkin but I am not sure. Planted them in a pot just to see what would happen and they grew! They don't seem to be making runners which I thought was common for pumpkins.
I thinned them twice already since I wasn't sure if they would grow (I just tossed some seeds in) and I still have five plants. Now the wait begins!

It will be interesting to see if you get something edible from them. It's fun having mystery seeds. I picked up a seed head from the ground at a big display garden and grew them and they turned out to be a very pretty canna brasiliensis.

It is fun! We will have to see what comes out if any thing 🙂

Courgettes?

I don't think so but anything is possible! 🙂

Pumpkins can hybridize with summer squash and gourds, probably not a pure pumpkin since as you've observed the different foliage. I had one that tasted pretty good. I have lots of volunteers in my yard and encourage them, plants spring up where they grow the best, don't argue with mother nature.

True. Just have to wait... 🙂

How fun to wait for the fruit to form. I love a good mystery!
