Could it have something to do with the decay and the active bacteria it produces? Most fruit doesn't sprout until it goes through an animal's gut.
Are they going to be able to survive the winter?
And the wet conditions if you have flooding.
@FrayedBear they should have no problem with the central Florida winter. And this area of my property isn’t prone to flooding.
