This is from my last home in Florida. I just cut the top off a pineapple and stuck it in the ground and it grew a new one.

I have one in a pot that was doing well but I noticed yesterday that it wasn't looking the best, probably time to transplant it.

Transplanted but the roots don't look the best, time will tell.
Fantastic! I've always wanted to do that. Not much chance outside tropical climates though.

It might work indoors. Haven’t tried it. I wasn’t even trying that hard with this one. I read it could work so I just stuck it in the ground and it worked.
@Flexymorals I have tried it indoors and it just rotted. Your conditions must be perfect for it.
@CeliaVL and I must’ve cut this one right, too, or something. I was never able to replicate it. I got lucky with that one.
There are lots of fruits and veggies you can grow from the cuttings that we'd ordinarily discard. Celery and onions come to mind real quick. The ultimate of frugality.

I have some carrots growing from the top end I cut off. But I’m just using them as House plants.
@Flexymorals Yes, that is another one. If you put them in a deeper pot you can regrow your carrots. I have grown carrot tops, they're attractive houseplants.
I have 10 pineapple plants in my yard in Tampa. Right now 5 of them have maturing fruit.

I’m not sure. We got a bad frost in the middle of February each year around Valentine’s Day and I didn’t cover it up. So maybe if I would’ve taken care of it.
Usually, yes. About half of them bear fruit in the summer, the other half in he winter.
Are those little pineapples growing from the base ? I never had a pineapple that was ripened on the root , let us know how it tastes compared to store bought .

It was delicious! A little tarter than the store bought I got but it was also much smaller for some reason. And no on the smaller pineapples. That’s just more leaves.
@Flexymorals Iv'e had sucess in rooting them but they can't tolerate NC winters Same with avocados and mangos .
@Besalbub same. I had 4 avocados that I tried to grow from the pit. They got to about 2-3 ft tall and then would die in February, but they kept coming back each year.
No. those are new plant shoots. Over time, they will likely produce pineapples themselves -- many months later. .
