I had to cut down/dig up two Viburnums this spring, that I managed to kill by overtrimming last fall. I'm thinking a Japanese Maple would look good there.
The front door faces East while that brick wall faces close to North. Very protected area from wind. And it gets about a half day of sun. What's the consensus of opinion Agnostic Gardners?

I am so sorry you lost your Viburnums 😟Those are nice bushes.
But I am SO FOR Japanese Maples!!! They are gorgeous and come in a variety of sizes, colors and textures.
You can go for the standard or go for a more cultivar version.
My fave is one that looks like an indoor Ming Aralia.
Go for it!!

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.
Linda (my wife) has commented that "a Japanese Maple would look nice there". Which means in "married" speak: "Go buy a Japanese Maple, the kind you know I like, and plant it right here" <pointing to the, EXACT spot to position it>.
So, decisions and orders have been made.
😉

@AmiSue !
While I consider you to be one of my best Agnostic.Com friends.... and I REALLY mean that, you're not in my chain of command.
😉

@bigpawbullets Unable to read what AmiSue has written as she obviously considers anything that I write unworthy of her eyes. I can imagine and enjoyed your polite riposte to whatever she wrote. ?

P.S. I admire your front yard for its neatness.

A pear tree may work. They are more column like, have very pretty flowers and bear fruit. A dwarf variety may be most fitting.

I think that would be an excellent choice for that spot!

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
