Hi gardeners! I have a question for you. Does anyone know how to harvest and/or process evening primrose for its medicinal benefits? I just learned I have this growing in my garden, and then learned that it's good for some old lady concerns. So should I harvest the leaves and flowers, or just flowers? Or both? Roots? And then dry them or make a tincture or .... ? Looking to get back to my long-neglected interest in herbal medicine and this beauty is just the candidate for a first-in-a-long-time foray. Any suggestions, of action to take or books to check out, will be greatly appreciated.

It is best made into a tincture or brewed as a tea fresh, a friend of mine grows it for this purpose, give it away to clients, patients and friends.

@shebaloney She just uses the flowers and the young leaves, less potent but saves the plant.

While I am male, I am also a retired RN and have seen enough in life to be familiar with the fact that that herbs, flowers, tree bark, roots, etc, all, have their place in life. You can easily research this give it a try and see if it helps you. Good luck.

I've grown it for years and didn't even know it had medicinal properties.
