This is rather inspiring! Waaay beyond organic gardening. Integrative perennial agriculture that not only eliminates chemicals pesticides but also creates a complete ecosystem on your property and builds the soil over time, without need for externally prpduced fertilizer.

Now we just need some experts for each local ecology system to give us references for plants (and critters) to include. 🙄

I'm rapidly approaching the ripe old age of 70. So, I've got maybe another decade or decade and a half here in our suburban home. We've talked about the idea if returning the majority of our backyard to a "natural" Eastern woodlands habitat. But at this stage, it might be a futile effort. The next owners would probably go back to sod.

Maybe. But if you plan that back yard with an obvious aesthetic garden layout and utilize native plants in a way that is low maintnance, you'll not only have a garden that is physically easy for you as your physical ability declines, you'll also have a beautiful low-maintenance garden as a selling point that buyers may very well appreciate.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
