Deutzia
An increasing popular flowering shrub. [bhg.com]
I have 2 plants called Dutzia Pink-a-boo. It seems deer resistant but, as you can see, it also gets large and is another, of many in my gardens, that require attention.

Very pretty. What is the blue flower plant. We had something like that we called tick bush in No. CA.

Real name is ceanothus

@Nightshade There are some flowers but I think what you are referring to is Ceonothus. (California Lilac) [laspilitas.com] They are everywhere here (not just California) and my south border has probably a dozen. They are bug and disease hardy and when they are blooming (the flowers remain for a long time) they are bee magnet. Walking past these plants it sounds like a bee factory. There are all kinds of varieties from ground cover to what I have a large shrub. Unfortunately, for me, they get really leggy and you have to clear out the dead wood which will shorten their life. If you look the flowers have little gold stamens which makes it glow at sunset.

@JackPedigo They are native to the north coast. Did you know you can wash your hands with the blooms? They soap up!

@Hathacat No I did not. I will have to try it sometime (if the bees let me). Thanks

@JackPedigo Kind of a fun experiment!😁
