I've decided to try growing potatoes in a cube, where I can keep adding soil as they grow. The greens are doing really well, so I'm hopeful it'll be a success! I'm also growing several types of peppers, hot and sweet, and two varieties of tomatoes, and some herbs.

I grow tomatoes! I love fresh vine ripened tomatoes. I grow some herbs as well.

I envy your garden zone - but not your hot humid summers - Ha!

@FrostyJim I totally agree. Even though I grew up in Florida, I have always disliked the summer heat and humidity here. By mid=June, I am already counting the days until the first cool-off in mid-October.

Hmmmm food. I have blackberries, blueberries, white grapes, dark drapes, concord grapes, strawberries & peaches 😀

Berries do very well up here, but it's too cold for grapes. I have raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, gooseberries, and black currents.

During both WWi and WWII , when a lot of farmers went to war , food was scarce and limited . If you watch films made during those years , people look extremely tiny , anorexic even , mainly because , they weren't getting enough t eat . SO the government encouraged those who could , to grow their own vegetables , where ever possible .

Everybody was encouraged to have a Victory Garden ...PBS even made a TV series with the same name!

Everybody can grow food...

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
