Something to be aware of with box store plants. You might not consider the possibility of buying and spreading disease just from buying plants, but here is food for thought.
Support local nurseries if possible.
Luckily we don't have any big box stores where I live. However, I do know that some stores (home Depot) sell potted plants that have no roots. A friend bought some 2 dozen Arborvitae plants and every single one died. Someone had simply cut the plant and stuck it in a pot of soil.
@Shouldbefishing I don't know but would you think of ACE hardware as a big box store? There is one near the main ferry terminal and one on the main island, San Juan. I often go there.
@Shouldbefishing I totally agree, but Ace seems to be very customer oriented. If there is a problem they need to fix it and, especially being on an island, the store needs to be pro-active.
I donot buy living things at box stores. I have wonderful nurseries all around me.
Thanks for the tip. I usually by from local nurseries around me.
