Having downsized to a studio-sized unit in a senior complex, I now garden in a private patio of 18 x 15 feet. Sunlight during the summer months has been good enough but hardly made it into the last 2 feet against the wall Dec Jan and Feb bit my choices of plants all did Okay. Everything is in large containers including a young Meyer lemon tree which has set prolific fruit recently. Morning coffee is often on that bench, when the fog didn't show up ...

@dede18 , right now we are in a brutal heat wave. Prior to that it was record breaking rain. Maybe next spring will be better.

How beautiful! It actually sounds more desirable to me, at this point in life, to garden in that controlled space with containers. Even my small yard is beginning to feel a bit overwhelming at times!
