Does anyone know this pretty tree I saw in Fort Lauderdale on my way to Europe?

Lagerstromia indica are good street trees! And they have nice bark, pretty flowers and good fall color.

They come in different color flowers (white, pink or red) and some varieties have dark leaves. I have 2 planted at the beginning of my driveway.

Look like a Crape Myrtle. I have several on my property. The hotter it gets the more they bloom. I love them.

I love Crape Myrtles, and they're one of the only things that keep blooming in the brown, dingy, and hot Texas months. It's one of our official native shrubs. Unfortunately, we have a horrible problem with people mutilating them (topping them off) so they aren't always at their best. Perhaps they're not as invasive here because of our cold winters?

ps - Their seed draws a lot of birds through winter.

Yes, those are crape myrtles, non-native shrubs that do not produce any meaningful nectar for birds or butterflies and a little invasive, in that it ends up in our public lands. Pretty, yes. Good for the ecology of Florida, no.

It is very common and super pretty. It has all kinds of colors. Easy to plant them as well. 🙂

looks like a crepe myrtle, but it's hard to tell from that picture.

@Allamanda you're welcome, it's such a common plant around here that I was sure that I'd be wrong.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
