More wildflowers photographed in Portugal a few weeks ago, when we could still travel.
The Cistus, also known as Sun or Rock Roses grow everywhere and flower from March onward. They have no thorns but grey felted leaves.

The white one is C. ladanifer, and is very common sometimes covering hillsides alongside heather, it produces a fragrant gum called 'Ladanum' which is used in perfume. The pink species is C. creticus which though less common overall often grows by roadsides. They make great garden shrubs in milder climates.

The pink ones look a form of rock roses. They are common here in both white and pink.

The pink ones are becoming common in ky. And most of them are started from ones taken from ditches. I know mine and my neighbors are 🙂

Lovely! I have wild roses growing in several places on my property and I do not use any poisons or fertilizers on my yard so I am getting many tiny native flowers! I am enjoying the transformation.

I do the same. I haven't found anything that a little vinegar and water won't take care of 🙂

I wonder why , we recognize and love wild flowers in foreign places , but at home they're only weeds .

Because one has not learned that invasives are weeds & natives are not.
