Split up and re-potted my pregnant onion plant yesterday. Ended up with 9 nice d plants and a whole batch of little tiny bulbs. Put the babies in shallow dish of dirt to see how many will sprout.
The pregnant onion is not actually an onion and it is toxic. It is actually a succulent and it gets the name from how it reproduces. It grows little bulb-lets under a skin, which gets more papery, like onion skin, as the bulbs grow. The skin will eventually split and the little ones will be exposed, sprouting as they hand on the "mother" plant or fall off and sprout in the ground.
I've had the central plant for over 30 years, it was past time to split off some of the younger plants. In the close picture you can see the bulges on the side, which are new little ones growing. The , strand next to it is a little one that has sprouted. The leaves, narrow with a central vein, droop over and down. I've had them get close to 3' .
Look similar to a beasts I have. I will try and remember to get photos for you.

Posted by KateOahuI saw some pretty flowers on a walk today. I’d never seen a white Hibiscus before. And I do not know what the pink flowers are.
