Confederate monuments are important. It's all about history regardless of how dark it was.

Chronic shortages of statues dedicated to Saddam Hussein.

Only 4 years of bad history. Waste of space and money to maintain.

context is everything. Those statues were not put up to commemorate history.

@jdubose 4 days, 4 months, 4 years, it doesn't matter. It is still our history. Confederate symbols do not encourage racism. Racism is taught at home during childhood.

@RobertMartin Do you want the heroes of the crusades to be forced into everyone also? How about the Mexican heroes of Mexican American War? How about Nazi heroes?

@jdubose no one one forces a monument on any one, a person can simply ignore it.

@RobertMartin If it's in a public place and maintained by public funds, it should be removed like religious symbols.

@jdubose I'm gonna have to disagree. I see religious symbols and I simply ignore them. Symbols and statues don't offend me one bit.
