Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I worked on a switchboard just like this one. It was installed in 1929. Headsets, rotary dial, one cord to answer the lighted circuit. The partner cord to advance the call. The old lady next to you did not bathe for a week & covered the odor in perfume. I would beg my supervisor to move me. Made $1.95 an hour at 16 years old. The minimum wage was 75 cents.
