Antonio Carlos Brasiliero de Almeida Jobim…also known as Tom Jobim for simplicity (and who could blame him for shortening that mouthful) was a legendary figure in the music of 20th century Brazil. He was a composer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and singer…who transformed the extroverted rhythms of the Brazilian samba into a new intimate sound…the bossa nova (new trend) which became internationally popular in the 1960s. I bought the Sinatra album titled Francis Albert Sinatra sings Antonio Carlos Jobim in 1968 and played it constantly for a period, I loved it so much.

He was a huge musical influence …where on earth do you get the “smoky cabaret clubs”? He was much more influential and important an international musician than io be reduced to that remark, if for no other reason than you must’ve heard his world famous hit song Girl From Ipanema…

@Marionville Maybe so. Of course you are correct but I just said how I felt. I never watched that sort of music. I never like Frank Sinatra. I was not a Bossanova dancer. It was not music that had me up an grooving. I listened to both of your offerings. I heard that girl who spared not a glance twice.
I've always loved Frank Sinatra! This is wonderful Marje. Jobin and Sinatra together is a real treat. I have so enjoyed the bossa nova music for over 50 years.
