Longest held note in music history....20.4 seconds (Guinness Record). A-ha “Summer Moved On” - Morten Harket, vocalist has held this record since 1998. This version is from 2010 - Oslo Spectrum, Norway.
circular breathing?
I have tried it, singing along with him....but run out at about 19 seconds!
@Marionville, circular breathing is actually what didgeridoo players practice: exhaling & inhaling (this through the nose) simultan, which gives the play an endless continuity. i keep trying, but it takes more regular practice & disciplin than i can muster
@walklightly I am now 73 and when I was younger could hold notes for a great length, because I had been trained in the technique. My lung function is not as good now.
@Marionville, yes, i've never been trained to sing until i started singing in choir at almost 60 yo. & i used to be a smoker, so my lung capacity has definitely decreased meanwhile too.
@walklightly I hope you get as much enjoyment out of singing with your choir as I do.
Sheesh. I was so in love with Morten Harket when I was a teenager. He's still a good looking guy even now. Amazing voice.
Yes he is a really sweet guy too, into humanitarian causes and philosophy.
