I had a job crushing soft drink cans but I had to quit because it was soda pressing. 😩

Where did the water want you to drill holes?

How could it tell you? It wasn't a babbling brook!

A deep subject to talk about too.

Yeah, when you drill down to the lower layers.

@Zealandia Well who knows?....you could get rich if you strike oil instead of water.

@Lilac-JadeCanada Not likely here…all the oil is offshore of the Taranaki Province in the West Coast of the North Island.

The new Government is allowing oil exploration again…..drill baby, drill.

@Zealandia I was drilling geothermal holes there around Taupo, steam is less boring than water 😉
You can always case it out 😀

@puff Oh, really? That would have been interesting work.

There’s a lot of geothermal power generation coming online around Taupo at the moment as part of the ongoing transition to renewable energy.

Tauhara Power Station opens end of the year. Will be the sixth geothermal power plant in the area and boost geothermal to 12% of NZ’s electricity production.

Just have to hope that Taupo doesn’t blow up again!

@Zealandia It has always cracked me up that we haven't really got away from the steam engine. Gas/ Coal burnt to boil water to make steam and drive turbines. Nuclear boils water makes steam to run turbines. So with geothermal you merely cut out the middle man ie pipe steam straight to the turbine to make electrickity 😉

Was working 4 week on 2 off roster for 2 years, crew changes from Thailand. So I was actually resident spending more than 50% of my time there. Enjoyed working with Kiwi's although almost got my head punched in at Whakatāne pub (I'll let you tell others how it's pronounced 😉 )when we beat you in a rugby world cup match, the boys quickly got me back to the rig. Talk about "Once was warriors", Moko's everywhere and little teeth.
This will make you laugh, the Company Man's name was Hagan Hole.
