Mr. and Mrs. Potato had three daughters, all of whom had recently become engaged and were each going to announce her engagement to their parents at dinner.
The oldest daughter said: "I am going to marry a russet potato."
Her dad exclaimed: "That is wonderful!"
The middle daughter said: "I am going to marry an Idaho potato."
The dad said: That is super!"
The youngest daughter then announced: "I am going to marry Dan Rather."
Her dad shook his head disgustedly as he muttered: "I always knew you would marry a common tater."
