Truckers hit hard by Trump, GOP tax plan
American truck drivers are considering quitting their jobs after the Trump administration's tax bill changed per diem policies that directly affect thousands of truckers.
This per diem tax is basically a tax break for over the road truckers. It works a little different between company drivers and independent drivers though. Or use to as when I was OTR years back. To sacrifice your life to the road and from your family if the case, truck drivers use to get this benefit. It takes a special type of person to live a life on the road in a truck. While you may see a lot of the country it's nothing like a vacation. And very stressful at times. And you rack up a lot of money on food, tools, showers, etc.
And this is another group of republican supporters who Trump pissed on. A vast majority of the trucking industry are supporters of the republican party. And that goes for the drivers also. Especially in the south!

Got to feed big oil. Big oil created the need for long haul truckers, big oil bleeds this country dry. Granted without the subsidies fuel would be more expensive. People would be more conservative, better transit systems would have evolved and that subsidy money would have been put to use for the American public instead of lining the pockets of the rich oil men.
Both parties have shit on labor, the little people we don't see that keep the goods and services getting to where people need them.
As long as people refuse to read and ask questions either party can feed them whatever they want to hear and they will never get it until it hits home.
The whole tax scam was explained but NO ONE wanted to hear the truth.

I have a special friend who is a long haul trucker...she is not going to be pleased, but she was never a tRump supporter anyway...I am sure she will do her part to make sure her fellow truckers are well aware of how this is going to affect them all.
Thanks for posting...so much going on that it is hard to keep up with all the ways his policies affect us...adversely.
