UK alternative media with Kerry-Anne Mendoza
Host Chris Hedges talks to Kerry-Anne Mendoza, editor-in-chief of the Canary. Created just five years ago, the alternative socialist website is financed by subscribers and advertisers with 3.5 million monthly viewers. It has been accused of being “hyper-partisan” due to its mainly pro-Labor Party content. The Daily Telegraph, an elitist newspaper, called it “the maddest left-wing website in the world.”
I haven't posted anything from the Canary in a while. After watching Hedges last night I thought it would be a good ideal to post a few articles from them to show the relevance between our governments actions, interactions. The Canary is a UK alternative media in which the 3 articles I posted this morning, I think, will display a corresponding agenda to our own media and government. I find it interesting they aren't afraid to use the the terminology towards there being a deep state, where most of our alternative media rarely admits this.
In the discussion above with Hedges Kerry-Anne gives a disturbing realization on how the British are facing a reversal of their social benefits to privatization and corporations. Their postal system and public transportation systems which seem to have had disastrous effects. Parts of their health care system is being privatized. The programs beginning to be crushed under private debt, which of course cost more. And while these social services are being taken away the blame is falsely being put on none other than, wait for it, immigrants. Sounds all to familiar, no?
They also discuss the change in media there, much like our own, on how it has become corporatized. The change in The Guardian and BBC.
