WHAT'S YOUR POSITION ON ABORTION ?

Totally the choice of the woman until the fetus reaches a certain developmental stage. I don't believe there are any ideal situations a woman has who doesn't want to have a child other than abortion. The adoption process can be difficult and very slow at best sometimes (I know this first hand.)....

The problem with the adoption process is not the problem...the nine months to produce a child for adoption are. If a woman doesn't want to become a mother WHY TO FORCE HER TO BEAR NINE MONTHS OF CHANGES AND RISKS? This is very selfish on the part of society.

DUCHESSA replies on Dec 18, 2017:
I was a HS teacher until recently. The dumbing down is a fact....but I don't care because the students are what really matter. See, I taught Spanish / Spanish Lit. and I told my students to select the chapters of "Don Quijote" that they found interesting. Some kids analyzed the way women were viewed (Grisóstomo y Marcela) by Cervantes, other kids wrote about the meaning of the windmills...and some presented papers on the humor expressed by the author. Guess what? No all the students read the Quijote that year; some selected novels where geography was the main character on the story....as it was history in others.

Isn’t it a shame a non-religious person have to keep their sanity secret?
MrLizard comments on Dec 7, 2017:
I come from a family of (mostly) like minded people. I don't hide my agnosticism. But I don't wear it proudly either. Most people on FB, who are paying attention, are starting to learn it. For you, @EmeraldJewel, I think the issues may have to do with your close family and community. You may ...

The believers wear their "beliefs" veeeeeeeery proudly....so proudly they feel they need to push them down your throat....Why no us to wear our Atheism / Agnosticism also proudly? I do.

Not only acceptable but, also, ir will help others to take the same steps; you would be surprised how many times I hear "Me too." when I say that I am an Atheist.

How do atheist parents raise their kids in a super society?
webbew1 comments on Nov 27, 2017:
Why would you not expose your kids to religion? It's a part of society, and they're going to have to deal with religious people in their work places as well as their personal lives. Failure to expose your kids to religion is a recipe for allowing them to fail when they get out in to the real ...
DUCHESSA replies on Dec 3, 2017:
Yes, to expose them to religion is OK...but only from the educational point of view. Kids need to know how religion has affected mankind.

Why do you reject the idea of religion?
imaprimate comments on Oct 6, 2017:
I reject the idea of religion because I've held the bones of prehistoric hominids and animals in my hands (or casts of their bones when the real bones weren't available). I'm an evolutionary biologist and paleoanthropologist. Religion is entirely a social construct.

Probably because you are a self-reliant 'free' thinker, and christian people are happy living in their box, mentally confined by their religious dogma.

Depends where you're looking, I guess. I'm 66. Age does probably make a difference, though. The older you are, the more aware you are likely to be that your time in this life is diminishing and the prospect of an afterlife may become something one desires more to cling to.

Didn't you assume? No? These are your words: ""I'm sure we all came from a religious background..." Your assumption bothers me because my parents and older siblings had a hard time finding jobs / getting settled in their new land (after suffering the WW II) because their Atheism. Fortunately, Argentina "evolved" rapidly thanks to foreign influence after the war and things started to improve.
