My point is that we should not let religions hijack the word FAITH for their own ends. Sometimes it is better for humans if we cannot go around checking everything we believe all the time. More importantly religions could overthrow an arguement about the importance of faith if we dismiss a legitimate use of the word in a non religious context.

You could not be further from the truth. As a science teacher by profession and not a terribly good one at that I am striving to make up for my failings by spreading science to people who for one goood reason and another could not or would not appreciate science at the earliest opportunity. I decided a few years ago that I cannot encourage people to think of science as an absolute But THE way of getting nearer the truth. There will never be a final hypothesis but just as we believe in infinity and negative numbers we keep going "because it is there". How can I conduct a campaign from "the closet" when my basic underlying one is to gradually fade out religion with hopefully no one killed but with respectful common endeavours? My real journey began when I was 16 at the time of 'Confirmation' . I put god to the test and he failed .(ie he left the class)... but I am agnostic only because I am a scientist.

Morals one would hope will be controlled by the individuals themselves without having to be told [following good self explaining example] and diseases by more infomation provided by science but better explained.

This goverenments record on looking after front line doctors and nurses could get them thrown out and Brexit dismissed. In the US it is time now to get a 2 million person march organized on the white house or wherever to get a NHSA for you too. Another pandemic is on its way , hopefully late enough to give you time to set one up

@Gwendolyn2018 It is true that all science is Maths but IMO this really indicates that scientists and mathematicians cannot rest until everything is in the form of an equations . These require symbols for the variables and obviously numbers at some point. I managed to enjoy science with an average maths mark at High school. I enjoyed the chasing practical conclusions and sometimes getting my hands dirty plus the safe working aspect which alerts me to the dangers of living nowadays. I did NOT like going into talking about Probabilities but Hey, we can only do that with the corona virus so it is here to stay. Simulating situations as a model is very exciting and that is going to beat the virus.

Your one is what I would call a flow diagram but as a teacher I want it to be cyclic and incorporate continuous testing ' As in "Robert the Bruce and his spider" I am concentrating on the correct words to use and they are loosely placed in a cyclic order. He is in prison a possible hotbed for the virus . He has a depleted immune system. VERY vulnerable. I agree he should be away from society but I wage that his accusers are feeling very uncomfortable at the moment.

@NoMagicCookie I totally agree about the massive damage of sexual abuse .
The virus does not pick out those with abuse history as perpetrator but does pick out those with low resistance and weakened immunity system. He does not deserve "death by Virus" but rather along term in prison to think out why he did this abuse.

@dalefvictor Compulsion is NEVER in my book but it is really sad that some people do not have the KNOWLEDGE how they can be helped . Knowledge is useful as a healer in itself meaning that lots of people actually deserve to have it It is carrying it through that is not compulsory.
I am sure that you would see that a life saving belt or floating ring was available next time you visted the waterside. A dead smoker is not one up for anyone. Free food is sometimes necessary as long as no one has to depend on it . LOTS of food is actually wasted.

The question is: What do we base our beliefs on? Belief without evidence is called faith, or blind faith. I prefer to base my beliefs on facts, evidence, logic and science. That way, I am more in touch with nature and the real, existing universe. Not mythology and fairy tales.
