Well, that's one person's opinion, although much of it rings true. Perhaps removing the Mango Mussolini and electing a Bernie type will turn things around. And switching to renewable energy, changing agriculture practices to sustainable solutions, like using lab meat, insect powder, urban, underground multi-story greenhouses to grow food everywhere in the city, having self-driving e-taxis to take people everywhere instead of keeping cars, etc.
I had a weird experience in 1977.
birdingnut comments on Aug 30, 2018:
Good thing you didn't have to live there! That used to happen to me a lot in Haiti, where voodoo is the main religion. I learned that I could just "think" to the spirits, or bad energy, or whatever they are, and wish them gone, and they'd vanish, never to return. So weird. I still don't know what they are. At the time I was in Haiti, we were taught they were "demons" but now I don't really have a theory.

At this moment, on my Kindle tablet I just finished the Little House on the Prairie series (yet again) and on my laptop I'm reading The Rho Agenda series (yet again). Kind of silly books, but I skim over the worst parts and read the interactions of the kids in the story and with the Jack and Janet agents. I've read and reread my Kindle collection so often it's about memorized but I've not worked since 2016, since I got cancer, so been living off my savings. And re-reading books.

Not surprising at all. In the US, asking personal questions can be dangerous. Many people don't like it..I know I sure don't and usually dodge the personal quesions by changing the subject. I had to learn to allow it here in Thailand where it's much safer, but even here, it's rare that anyone actually asks a personal question-they mostly mind their own business..one of the things I like about the Thai.

What's more important to provide to your partner, your time or your money?
birdingnut comments on Aug 30, 2018:
I expect the man to provide money support anyway...I would never even date him if he expected me to pay the bills. But I since I support myself, I value time together. I bother with relationships to gain a ballroom dance and hiking/birding partner, so if he's not up for that, I'd rather be single.
Janus Lake Hike- "I'm going down there?"
birdingnut comments on Aug 30, 2018:
I no longer hike like other people do - I use my own invention, a pair of "gallopers." No more twisted knees, sore feet, or even getting tired. I can move at the speed of a slow jog uphill and down, on rocky, steep, or trails with sliding debris, and dangerous footing, without fear of slipping. I don't even feel the weight of the backpack, and because I lope on "four feet," animals and birds take me for a deer and ignore me. I came up with this invention in self-defense after my ex talked me into an Appalachian Trail overnight winter hike with a backpack almost half my weight, and I got blisters, almost blew a knee, and was miserable the entire time as the backpack dug into my back. Furthermore he kept complaining that I was "too slow" and began talking about taking a "through hike." In 2009 I made myself a pair of gallopers and began zooming in circles around him on the steepest roads, until he was so annoyed he begged me to make him a pair. Then, because his legs were longer, he was STILL able to go faster than I did, so resumed complaining that I was "too slow." I kept improving the design after I moved to Thailand in 2010, and came up with one with flexible "joints" that keeps heavy backpacks from shifting as I bound down the steepest trails. So far, my clumsy homemade prototypes can only fit in a backpack, but if I can get a licensing deal where they use carbon fiber telescoping poles, it might fit in a large purse. I actually did find a company that wanted to license it, but changes in patent laws scared me off.

Not wise to allow one's mate to be "friends" with women. Most cis hetero men are only friends with women because they are hoping to get lucky some day, no matter what the women think. Hi, Daniel, and welcome to the website! Don't worry..there are many aggressive women here who like to initiate interactions with men, and they'll probably find you. By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve. For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them. You can improve your website score in general by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you. Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt. If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match. Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others who are compatible with them. In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters. Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also. Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial. Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at https://agnostic.com/groups/rooms.

I reported sexual assault to my mom by a doctor relative who was a gynecologist, when I was getting a routine physical required by our Haiti mission, and my mom ignored me. I learned that nobody would listen to me or believe me so I started carrying weapons and took karate defense classes. When my 15 year old daughter was sexually assaulted by a college student, and I tried to file charges with the DA, he warned me that all that would happen is that my daughter would smeared in public as a whore who deserved it, and that no charges would stick. Years later, my daughter said her grandfather groped her under her skirt when she was little, but she was afraid to tell me for fear of my causing a scene and family rift. Sure enough, when I finally heard about it and told other family members, they only attacked both of us as liars.

Is cannabis adictive?
birdingnut comments on Aug 27, 2018:
Cannabis oil, which I take to treat cancer isn't addictive. But perhaps smoking it is mentally addictive, or maybe some of the extreme THC new strains are, but studies show that vaping with CBD oil breaks addictions of all kinds. “A limited number of preclinical studies suggest that CBD may have therapeutic properties on opioid, cocaine, and psychostimulant addiction, and some preliminary data suggest that it may be beneficial in cannabis and tobacco addiction in humans. The cannabinoids in cannabis bind to the special receptors in the body found in the endo cannabinoid system. They work together to protect the neurons and nourish the brain’s overall health. Research suggests CBD’s positive effects on everything from anxiety management to addiction, with few side effects. Because CBD compounds are similar to chemicals created organically in our own bodies, they may be better integrated into our systems than synthetic drugs."
