The fear of death, feeds the lie we call God
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
when i believed in a personal god i wasn't thinking about death at all. i just wanted not to be so lonely. i don't think i believed in any kind of afterlife even back then. i just had this vague image of someone watching me, to whom i could talk. i was a child for most of that time; i became an atheist at age 15. g

genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
well, by your definition, you're an agnostic, and that's what you call yourself when pressed for a label, which i understand is sometimes annoying. mazel tov! you appear to understand the difference and you appear to have chosen the more accurate term for yourself. further, you've managed to do it without calling atheists arrogant for pretending to know the unknowable, or intimating that agnostics are timid or uncommitted and should probably just shut up, or comparing atheism to a religion because the word "believe" sometimes pops up in a sentence, or pretending the two words are completely synonymous. that's unusual here! i am (among many, many other things, while still not being a thing) an atheist, myself. nice to meet you! g

Democratic Socialism [counterpunch.org]
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
well, that certainly perpetuates the myth that the democratic party as a whole is all talk and mostly interested in preserving unrestrained capitalism. those who pay good attention and don't cherry-pick, and don't equate being donated to with being beholden and bought and sold, know that this is not actually the case. i am closer to being a social democrat than to being in favor of any other named kind of economic system, but i don't buy the political aspect of it that perpetuates this myth. furthermore, teaching people to hate or at least disrespect the democratic party (especially based on that myth) is an excellent way to keep the republicans in power. or is that what we want, in order to have a rallying cry? not me! g

What is better than wasting your time at church? ??
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
well, for me, going to a church would be a unique and interesting experience because i have never been a christian. i was in a church for a friend's wedding, and two other churches for two of another friend's weddings, and apart from that i've been in churches as a tourist appreciating architecture or concerts, but i have only been in a church for a service twice: once as a kind of exchange thingie with a baptist friend who came to a synagogue with me (i didn't have one, since i was and am not only nonpracticing but an atheist) and once for a midnight christmas mass (catholic church of course). oh i think i was in a mormon church once, dragged by a college acquaintance. i have to admit that one was a bore: no good music, very boring in every aspect. the other two were at least interesting. so today's being sunday is meaningless to me in terms of religion, churchgoing isn't a religious experience for me because i don't DO religion. i'd be a tourist. g

Any speculations on where your thoughts come from?
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
why would i have to speculate on where my thoughts come from? i am perfectly well aware of where they come from. i do this think i learned as a child, which some people do and some don't. it's called thinking. my thoughts don't come from anything resembling belief, in the sense i perceive you to mean. no, they're not someone else's. that doesn't mean i don't listen or read. it means i process what i take in on my own, and some of the processing means rejecting bullshit. g
People get what they get, it has non to do with what they deserve ! Do you believe in carma ?
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
i don't even believe in karma -- not the way people usually mean it when they say it. everyone seems to think it means "what goes around comes around." sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. what it really means, to me at least, is more like the butterfly effect, and it has nothing to do with justice, comeuppance, reward, punishment or anything like that. in fact, cause and effect is already a good phrase for what i think karma means. so why do we even need the word karma? it's not an english word, or at least it didn't used to be. it's fine. in the sense of this meme, nope, no karma. in the sense i just said, yeah, just another word for impartial cause and effect. g

Those who did not get married I request them not to marry.
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
i am 66 and a half years old and engaged to be married. i cannot have any children and would not have had children even had i married younger, so why in the world would you care if i got married? request denied! i never wanted kids, but if someone wants to have kids, married or not, who has the right to tell them not to do so? having a baby in the united states does not automatically hurt a baby in africa. having 16 of them in order to get your own tv show is a different story, but having a kid or two is not something anyone else should control. why is everyone trying to control women's bodies all the time? if a woman wants to give birth, let her! if a woman finds herself pregnant and doesn't want to give birth and decides to end the pregnancy, let her! it's nobody's business! the same goes for marriage: it's up to the two people involved. (and it doesn't hurt other people to do so, regardless of what the situation is elsewhere in the world. married people can even go help people elsewhere in the world! what has their being married got to do with it?) g

today. thrice. i went to the ordway theatre for a cookies and coffee reception followed by a season preview, a couple arias from each selection from the coming season. it was wonderful. as i went to get some cookies, i saw a guy wearing a t-shirt that said VOTE and i told him i loved his t-shirt. then the woman who sat down next to me in the front row when it was time for the performance took off a lovely black fur(fake i hope)-lined cape and i told her it was pretty. on the way home, on the metro mobility bus, i told another passenger how nice her earrings were; they were in the shape of crowns, which meant nothing to me, but they were glittery, which i liked, and i said so. all three people seemed to be glad to receive the sartorial compliment. i was not able to compliment the performers individually but i did applaud; did that count? g

1. i fell down on highland boulevard in los angeles and scraped the top of my left big toe. i was running for a bus, and had no time and nowhere to clean the scrape, which didn't bleed, until i got to my destination. the delay was sufficient to allow the wound to get infected, and for the next MONTH, i visited doctors, got creams and ointments and oral antibiotics -- my foot got worse and worse. it hurt, i could hardly walk, and the pus-filled swollen wound itself was simply disgusting. the docs wanted to give me a shot. no WAY. then i remembered how a friend of mine had gotten his finger slammed in the car door and healed the wound with goldenseal. i hope i am remembering that right now! (he always looked a little resentful, telling that story, since, as he put it, his wife had slammed that door on his finger!) so i got some powdered goldenseal and sprinkled it on the wound. within an HOUR the pus had dried up. within three days i had only the faintest scar on my toe. 2. i was a walking well of flatulence. it was embarrassing -- and painful. i remember missing my bus stop more than once because my stomach hurt so much i couldn't move from my seat. i went to doctors; they were baffled. finally i went to a doctor who, i remember, had a very bad cold, and he ordered a barium upper g.i. he looked at it and declared that i had colitis, sneezed and began to leave the room. wait! what do i DO about that? eat right, he said. what's eating right for colitis? oh, you know, he said. well, i didn't. i knew what eating right was, but for colitis? not a clue. there was no internet back then in 1982 (i'd suffered with this for years, too). so i got a book about herbs and found that the one that had worked on my big toe was also good for digestive issues. i concocted a potion of goldenseal, catnip and mint, and brewed it up, and threw it right out, so foul did it taste. i brewed it every day and threw it out every day. then i forced myself to drink it. i drank it every day for a month. i forget now whether i drank it once, twice or thrice a day, but i was diligent. at the end of the month i no longer had any symptoms of colitis. i was symptom-free for decades but now i have ibs. i try to remember to take goldenseal tea when it gets too irritating. 3. a friend of mine tried to kill herself. she did it right, too: lengthwise razor-blade cuts up the arm. she changed her mind, though, and called me. i urged her to come to my house, and she did. i treated her wounds with goldenseal. she yelped. goldenseal can be extracted with or without alcohol; unfortunately for her nerve endings, the kind i had was extracted with alcohol and it stung, as you might well imagine. it probably helped disinfect the wounds, though. the ...
Scientists Are Working on an Algorithm to Predict Death - Tonic
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
death is the easiest thing in the world to predict. i will predict it now: we're all going to die! there. you wait and see if this isn't true! but seriously, an algorithm cannot predict death. it can calculate the odds but it cannot use every bit of information that would help such a calculation, because there are way too many variables. it's not ALL based on, say, a patient's metabolism, or the progression of the illness. some of it is based on the emotional state of the patient, and said state could be changed by a chance encounter, a visit from a loved (or hated) one, the callousness or solicitousness of a nurse, how dim or bright the lights are, any number of things! if this algorithm seems to have had some success, keep in mind the subjects of the predictions were already dying, or potentially dying, not as we all are, but more imminently, and more specifically, if i understand this correctly. on the other hand, cats ARE superior animals. g

Can I know your opinion?
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
i have never heard of a religious book or a religion that proposes that the body rolls over in the grave in order to separate from the soul. i do not even believe in a thing called the soul, in that sense (in the motown sense, sure!) but that doesn't matter; i would've heard of such a belief, i think. i also have never heard any scientific proposal that anything like a soul travels among or across dimensions. dead is dead. our consciousness is not well understood but it has to do with signals emitted by the brain, be they electric, magnetic, both or neither. when the brain dies and no longer emits, there are no more signals. it's like turning the radio off, and then breaking the radio to bit. dead is dead. g
Are we freethinkers to be as petty as Christians on their websites?
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
what, atheists, as diverse as we are, should be superior in character to theists? some of us are petty and some of us are not. if you have some discussions to start (it's really hard to start a discussion with "we should be discussing this" but, you know, present the problem, or present the solution, or something) go for it. but you know, enjoying discussions about a variety of topics, some of which are vital world issues and some of which are just fun, does not make us petty. it's just human. g
I do not care about your scientific degree, or your position, because it benefits you alone, But I ...
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
seriously, a scientific degree benefits the bearer alone? those who discovered the cure for or vaccination against deadly diseases benefited no one? science teachers benefit no one? someone who actually knows how to be a president and attains that position benefits no one? tell that to the nine million people who didn't have health insurance before the aca and now have it. my moral value at best benefits me and my small circle of friends, and, oh, i suppose the multitude of banks i don't rob and the crowds of people i don't murder. i suppose you could extend it to the world, come to think of it. but if i had a scientific degree and the position that would allow me to use it to benefit humanity, i would certainly use it to benefit the world. they're not mutually exclusive, you know, morals and education. g
Everyone one can happy if they really want to be, ok it can take a bit of hard work but it is ...
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
a bit, huh? actually, not everyone can be happy, even with hard work. some people are mentally ill and cannot conceive of happiness. some people are actively being tortured, sometimes to death; happiness would be an inappropriate reaction to that. and happiness is different from person to person, so it is difficult to agree with an assertion that everyone can attain it when not everyone can even define it. g
Do you feel you have a responsibility to the nation?
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
yes of course. that is why i encourage people to register and vote, and share information about what obstacles they might encounter and how to conquer them, and where to register and vote, and of course i vote myself, and purvey information about what the candidates are doing and what problems need to be solves, so that people may make informed choices. i am unable to get out and knock doors; if i could do that, i certainly would. i have been known to contact government officials to let them know how i feel about an issue or two, and once in a while attend a political meeting. g

At what age did you stop believing in traditional love as perpetuated in music / movies / mainstream...
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
what is traditional love? i can't find just one kind of love portrayed in music and movies? i don't even think there is one kind of mainstream society, much less one kind of love in it. since i am in love with the guy i've been with for 18 years, i suppose i have to believe in love. is it like the movies? well, no, but what is? is it the only possible manifestation of love? of course not. so i can't answer the question properly because i don't buy the premise of the question to begin with. g

genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
i like most of the people you mention, and i also like doctor zhivago, but my best movie and best actor lists are so long, you'd be reading them for decades. i'll say that "the fixer," which is imperfect, has a place in my heart, as does "day for night," but they are two among many, many. alan bates was a wonderful actor, as are derek jacobi, meryl streep, martin shaw and many, many others. i can't even begin to list them here. i just tried. it didn't work rofl! g

Church for atheists?
genessa comments on Sep 30, 2018:
why would someone who believes in no gods need a church? isn't a church a place of worship? a place to practice a religion? atheism isn't a religion; it's a belief there are no gods, or a lack of belief that there are any gods. there is nothing to worship and no religion to follow, for an atheist. sometimes atheists meet; they sure don't meet to practice atheism, as if it's a thing you have to do, as in a religion. g

if you do want to reply here is one possibility: GOD Has science discovered God? yes, he was under a rock. he's still dead. How has God revealed Himself? invisibly. If God is good, why does he allow suffering? god is still dead. look under rock. JESUS AND THE EVIDENCE Did Jesus really exist? if he did he wasn't greek so his name wasn't jesus. Is Jesus God? he has one thing in common with god: they're both dead. Is Jesus the Messiah? see above Did Jesus really rise from the dead? nope, he's still dead. curiously, generalissimo francisco franco is still dead too. JESUS AND HIS CLAIMS Did Jesus claim to be God? he said he was dead? Is Jesus the only way to God? no, there are a lot of paths to death. continuing to bother people with religious crap isn't necessarily one of them but i'd be kind of careful. RELIABILITY OF THE BIBLE How do we know the Bible is true? which bible? no bible of which i am aware is true. How do we know the New Testament is reliable? we know for a fact the new testament is not reliable. ask any pope... or king... or emperor. Why were the Gnostic Gospels and other writings excluded? to save space, since what was included was just as much a load of crap as what was excluded. Do the Bible and science agree or contradict one another? science is a way of studying things. it doesn't agree with or contradict anything. the bible is a work of fiction and it's not particularly well written either. scientists don't usually bother much with fiction, although the science channel, incomprehensibly, will. NEXT STEPS IN YOUR NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS i don't have or want a relationship with a dead guy. that's necrophilia. ewwww. How can I be sure I’m going to Heaven? die. oops. that won't do it. death is just death. I’ve received Christ as my Savior, what is next? get deprogrammed. How do I know I’m forgiven when I still sin? you won't be. not by me, anyway! stop "sinning"! How do I grow spiritually and follow Christ? why not take up a hobby instead? I’ve rededicated my life to Christ, what is next? undedicate yourself. by the way there is no such thing as a christ. HELP WITH PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES How can my life have meaning? stop being a religious sheep. How do I deal with relationship problems? without religion. How can I improve my mental attitude and experience happiness? stop being a religious sheep. RESOURCES Can you send me a Bible? no. Can you email me devotions? no. Can you send me a Bible study? no. OUR ORGANIZATION Who are you? someone who can't understand why you would send me this crap. can you please not ever do that again? thank you. How can I help or join your organization? it seems unlikely. g

genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
it's rampant, but i ignore it unless the person is a troll and i am about to block him/her anyway. then all bets are off. but one i recently did not ignore (and got called names for pointing out quite gently) was "since" for "sense." that's no typo. that's ignorance. "could of" for "could have" raises the hairs on the back of my neck because it didn't used to be so rampant -- it was sufficiently unusual that i actually was able to identify a real-life rather dangerous stalker because of it. it was idiosyncratic to her at the time, or was unusual enough to be considered so. on tv, i get crazy when the subject doesn't match an introductory clause. examples: "as a child, my father taught me to spell." oh really, your father had a child when he was a child? "finding the cat quivering in the shadows, it meowed." it found itself and then meowed? stuff like that. and i don't mean this shows up in interviews, in which people may speak off the cuff and not be strictly grammatical. no, i am talking about scripted stuff, that gets written down, typed up, presumably proofread (yeah, these days that means spellcheck, which isn't the same thing!) and then read by someone who has a nice voice but hasn't got a clue what he's saying. that really depresses me. just between you and me, "just between you and i" is not a new phenomenon but it still rankles. it hurts i to see/hear it. someone mentioned "i seen." does no one go to SCHOOL anymore? every day, i see "everyday" used as an adverb instead of every day. it's an everyday thing, i guess; spelling it as one word makes it an adjective. one more thing, also on tv. two times. no one will say "twice." it's always two times. and there are fewer comparatives and superlatives. it's always "more toasty" instead of toastier, "the most easy" instead of the easiest. is this deliberate? how did this happen? g p.s. i don't make initial caps in casual writing, such as social media posts. some of it is the remainder of an old stylistic conceit from my teenhood but most of it is the arthritis that plagues my hands. it can't be as hard and annoying to read AS ALL CAPS, THOUGH. THAT HURTS MY EYES!

interesting. i don't do these things, and i am constantly being told (and seeing other people being told) that maybe if i JUST apologized or softened up what i said, my disagreeing with people wouldn't be so bad. first of all, that's not true. people who don't like being disagreed with don't care of you say sorry first. second of all, i'm not sorry so why should i say i'm sorry? (if i am, i do!) and third of all, the last time i apologized (in advance) for saying something, i was called "cunty" anyway. (imagine if i had NOT apologized!) i am more likely to say "correct me if i'm wrong" if i feel unsure, and i mean ti when i say it, and sometimes get corrected. i don't say i might be wrong without an active and sincere solicitation to correct me if i am; everyone might be wrong, after all. if one is unsure, one can always say "i think" instead of leaving the door open for a big kick in the butt! g

genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
oh by the way, if you want to respond to the person who just called me uptight and cunty, i won't actually see your response because that kind of name-calling is what impels me to block someone, and i have indeed blocked her. that's okay, if you only want her to see your support or your disapproval, but if you want also for me to see your reaction, best respond to this comment instead, as if i am not mistaken, i cannot block myself lol g

i don't have children. i can imagine what i would have done if i'd had kids; i might be more or less accurate in my imagining. what i THINK i would do is to give no religious explanation whatsoever until they were ready to go to preschool, but i would mention early on, in various discussions on other topics, that people believe a variety of things or have a variety of opinions. then when they went to preschool i would have to figure out how to inoculate them against brainwashing without myself brainwashing them. i think my stylistic prep to that point would make that easier. of course the details would depend a lot on the kid's own personality and learning style, and that it not only theoretical but moot. i have to say i have raised my cats and dogs to be completely irreligious. they hold no gods, unless they are worshiping in secret. g

Reality In Review: Part Three Reality and Free Will… What?
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
"... if you are actually a colony of organisms, each of which have no free will (i.e. – your body cells hence tissues, organs and organ systems), then “You”, the total collective of those organisms that lack free will, can’t have free will." that is by no means a given. MANY things are greater than the sum of their parts. parts interact. the parts may not have free will but their interaction may create the possibility of free will. g
So, yesterday saw a new doctor.
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
unfortunately i have to deal with a lot of doctors. i have never met a doc or nurse who tried to lay religion on me, or who even wore a cross to work, come to think of it, and i've only ever met one nurse who was a republican. i can get good laughs from all docs and all nurses but that one by responding to their request for a list of my allergies by adding "republicans." (i haven't tried :"christians" yet because they might be christians; they're not evangelicals, though; that one cannot help noticing!) you're in florida? you'll understand that i don't mean YOU when i talk about "floridiots" right? you might be surrounded. you have my sympathies. g
Maybe If We Underpaid Politicians and Overpaid Teachers There Would Be Smarter People and Less ...
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
politicians' salaries are not out of line with the job they theoretically do. the problems are 1. some of them don't do their jobs. 2. they supplement their salaries with bribes and 3. some of them are so ignorant it's a wonder they can remember how to breathe. vote blue. nobody is perfect and no party is perfect but the democratic party as a whole is honest even if there are (as expected) individuals within it who may be less worthy than others. the republican party is a criminal organization, and by the way, it PAYS to put green party candidates on ballots to split the liberal vote. it works. it keeps republicans in power. think about it. anyway, it's not about salaries. it's about bribes and other lucrative criminal activity. g

because despite not being a total asshole, he's mostly an asshole. he speaks out against trump... then votes with the rest of his criminal organization. it's easy to be brave when you're not running for reelection. if he were, he'd be talking as badly as he votes. talk isn't always that cheap but votes, it seems, are even more expensive. g

How to get to Level 3
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
the levels just happen as you participate. they happen faster when you don't worry about them. just respond to posts or comments you find interesting, post stuff you are feeling or thinking or that you hope others might find interesting, and conversations will ensue. surprise -- you'll reach a new level, and more slowly another, and so on. g

Just a question
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
if i wanted to be a believer it wouldn't work. i can't MAKE myself believe something i don't believe. it's not a matter of wanting or not wanting to be a believer. however, if i had to choose a religion, i am already a jew, and judaism (reform or reconstructionist) would be my religion of choice. in judaism, atheism actually isn't a dealbreaker, as weird as that may seem, and questioning is encouraged. it's humanistic and in general progressive; the modern prayer books don't assign god a gender (those pesky pronouns! it would be rude to say IT, right?) so that would be my choice. but back to the first paragraph... wanting to be a believer would not be enough to make me believe, and i will add too that suddenly believing in a god or gods would not necessarily also mean joining an organized religion. g
I am going to the truth truthfully, and I know that it will find me someday .
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
nonbelief is the same as intolerance? i don't believe, and i do not think i am intolerant of believers. i am, i admit, intolerant of believers who try to legislate, execute and adjudicate religion, but people may personally believe what they want. i don't get why you think nonbelief is intolerance. g

So might aunt is super christian religious.my sis asked her why does gh osts/demons haunt places?
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
she is one of the gullible people preyed upon by those whose only motivation is gaining and keeping power. unfortunately, the way that works is that gullible people tend to raise more gullible people. you're lucky you can see that it's ridiculous, but to them it's very serious. don't even try to point out the idiocy of the argument to her. she won't see it; she'll see your contradicting her as a sign you're possessed or something. laugh and say, thanks for the input, auntie. now, what's for lunch? oh and your sis sounds a little gullible too if she's asking about ghosts. g
A freind of mine is being call "relentlessly gay." We have no idea what that means. Your thoughts?
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
to be relentlessly gay means not to buy into the "i don't care what they do in the bedroom but keep it there" crap purveyed by people who don't mind pinching women on the butt in public and are not offended by straight couples holding hands as they walk down the sidewalk or straight couples kissing in the doorway as one of them goes off to work. it means not believing that you have to suppress who you are so that bigots don't get all wobbly inside. it means being able to have a picture of your husband or wife on your desk at work even if the spouse is the same gender as you. it means being able to SAY "my husband" or "my wife" in casual conversation, even if said spouse is the same gender as you, just as if it's a normal thing -- which it IS -- without fearing that some homophobe will piss his diapers at the very thought, even though he has pictures of HIS wife on HIS desk. it means being butch or femme or just an ordinary guy or gal as your personality or mood of the moment suits you without caring if some idiot swallows his or her chewing gum at the very sight, sound or idea of you. being relentlessly yourself, whether gay or straight, is a good thing. the next time your friend is called that, the appropriate response is a big smile and 'oh, THANK you!" g
Do Americans feel guilty about their history?
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
1. the u.s. can be blamed for slavery? we can be blamed for participating but we sure didn't invent it. 2. i am not trying to justify our bad behavior by pointing out that others have behaved as badly or worse and that we have set no precedents for such behavior. it is still worth pointing out when it is suggested that we are the only ones, or the first ones. credit and discredit where it's due, and not where it's not, right? 3. i do not feel guilty. i feel outraged. i want to change things. should i feel guilty by virtue of what piece of geography my mom was gracing when i popped out five weeks early? and if i did feel guilty, whom would that help? g
I try really hard not to be gullible and believe the hype and spin from the politicians.
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
i believe blasey-ford and kavanaugh made an ass of himself. i am neither a judge nor a jurist, but i have an opinion i don't mind expressing, and that is, first of all, he appears to be guilty, and second of all, whether or not he is guilty of sexual assault, he certainly is temperamentally unfit to be a judge much less a supreme court justice. third of all, he shouldn't even HAVE politics but he sure has got them and they suck. g

I don't like the word, "Atheist ".
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
well at least you spelled it right! that's a start :-)) i am sorry you hate it. i don't claim to know anything unusual, but neither am i in particular doubt. it seems sufficiently unlikely that for all practical purposes there are no gods. i mean if one is hiding somewhere, i really don't care, but i can't say i think it's any more likely than that a sprite will emerge from my nose and hand me a million bucks. so i can't call myself an agnostic. i spent no time or energy doubting that gods are every bit as imaginary as the tooth fairy (who owes me a quarter, by the way). therefore i have to call myself an atheist, when i bother labeling myself. it's a convenient enough label but it's certainly not my only descriptor. i don't think i am pretentious and i don't think i reek of much bullshit. g

funny, but presumes jesus was christian. if he existed, he was jewish. he has since been portrayed wearing a cross, which is weird, like "i'm okay now, but later i think i'll be executed so let me wear a lethal injection around my neck." point worth noting: a rabbi would more likely study than pray about this. g
What does this even mean?
genessa comments on Sep 29, 2018:
it means that the makers of this product are claiming not that the product is 100 percent cheese but that the cheese flavor, or the portion of it that is cheese, is not processed cheese food, or some other cheese substitute or imitation. is it true? i have no idea. but that's what it means. if you look at a typical package of american cheese you will see that cheese is not its only ingredient. it's not cheese. it's cheese maybe, and some other stuff... additives of some kind. so... you know you need to eat real food. go for it! g
