If so I don’t know about them and wouldn’t join anyway. Sounds like a fine thing for someone that was religious that came to thier senses and is looking to fill the void. Since I was never religious I don’t feel anything is missing and have no void to fill.

Unfortunately, no. There's a post-Christian Unitarian-Universalist congregation but that's low on food and big on talk ... and it tends to be just as cliquish and doctrinaire politically as a "real" church is theologically. Any advertised humanist society activities are a minimum of an hour away and frankly don't look very compelling. Like others, I'd be interested to know both what goes on at the Houston Oasis and why it's important to have an "alternative" to church specifically, as opposed to just some way to find community and belonging.

I don't get it..do the people do anything, like go dancing, see a museum, go wine tasting? Sitting in a circle discussing esoteric topics sounds boring as church was.

I'd rather be out in the forests doing bird photography than sitting around having cerebral discussions, but if they'd do it, I'd love to go jitterbug dancing.
