I'm an atheist.
Despite not believing in God, somehow the word atheist would not be the most suitable in my case, for I might believe in something superior, not in an intelligent and coordinating religious way though. Maybe something magnanimous, like an “Ocean” flow. Agnostic, then? Well, more like a naturalist, I'd say ...
I believe in Life. Big fan of life! I believe in Nature, moving by itself by means of its own existence. If something bad happens (accidents, illnesses), it is because there is a probability that it would happen … to ANYONE ... There is nothing intelligent coordinating these facts, it’s just the randomness of Nature.
I'd be so arrogant as to believe I’d have privileges; that one (or more) God (sic) looks after me; that angels protect me and, because of that, and my sole faith on them, the odds of bad things happening to me and my beloved ones would diminish or cease to exist. In the end, it would not be about being an atheist, nor an agnostic, nor a believer… but about being a megalomaniac!
Bad things can happen to anybody; and they do! I see religions as alienators, trying to justify each other problems by means of “celestial" and metaphysical causes, with the purpose of soothing people. Religion supplies a lack of a protective figure in a fantastic ethereal way.
All you have to do is question and check-mate all the dogmas to come to the conclusion: "I think, therefore I am”… I AM, and it is over, end of subject. No one "up there" is responsible for me ... I'm responsible for myself, for my actions, for the pursuit of MY happiness.
Don't "free will smalltalk" me. Free will is the only thing that could exist in a universe of infinite possibilities and unpredictable results. Long live statistics and ... thank you, I can take care of myself!

I have similar beliefs. I really started delving into them when I got into my first philosophy class and have not stopped since! It's nice to know I'm not alone.
Thst would make you an agnostic, not an athiest.
@nobreporto You are ambiguous when you say you "believe in something superior". If you are talking about something responsible for why we exist, then you are agnostic. But if you mean there is something superior to us, but did not have anything to do with our existence, then that's different.
