I'm concerned that expanding evangelical coo-coo virus infecting a whole lot of Texans is going to cause hardship and pain to a lot of other Texans that don't look like them. Have you SEEN the news?

What blows me away is the number of my Texas co-workers who homeschool. And mostly it is those with strong religious beliefs, who I KNOW are teaching their kids NOT to question things. They are pounding "Were you there?" into their kids.

And most are actively steering their kids away from college, where they wouldn't have control over what they werw exposed to. Keep them uneducated and then get then interested in being an electrician or plumber... something to keep them out of college.

Texas should have stayed it's own country.
Worst place I've ever lived.

I want out so bad.

@nvrnuff I can appreciate that. Good luck escaping!

@KKGator If I could sell my house, I'd be outta here.Market is flooded.

What Texas news, specifically, are you referring to?

Life in general has become just a little too easy for people in this country....when they are not faced with adversity day to day - such as wars, plagues, natural disastsers, etc etc - they begin to pick at each other. That's when you start to see this "tribalism" the news keeps talking about. Find a dozen other people who think just like you do - then band together and start denigrating everyone else - build the case that if you're not "with them" then you're the enemy. I honestly thought by the time I reached the age that I am now, I would be witnessing a country and a world that would have evolved to a higher plane. It truly saddens me to see the backwards slide - especially when its cloaked in religion.

Actually we do a lot of that right here on Agnostic.com

Time will cure the religious cults. Christianity is not growing, it's in a severe recession. People are leaving in droves, particularly younger generations. It's not just Christianity either. European countries are way ahead of us though. In some countries religious participation has dropped to just 20 % . More and more, people refuse to take "faith" Education has helped this along. You and I won't live long enough to see it completely "buried", but perhaps your grandchildren will. See if you don't agree with this statement - "It takes a special kind of con artist to get rich without paying any tax, by selling people an invisible product for 10 % of their income, that they can't see, until after they die !" Also, I quote Ronald Reagan's son Ron Reagan - "I'm not afraid of going to hell !". I recently saw the figures for many European nations' people dropping out of religion but wish I had copied it so I could describe its source. I suggest getting more of your news from sources other than your local paper and TV station. You're missing out !
