I once hitchhiked from Houston, TX to Angleton (about 45 miles). One of the guys that picked me up asked me if I was afraid of being raped. I looked at him with a straight face and said "Nope".

Funny, he let me out about a mile later.

My grandma never picked up a hitchhiker with kids in the car except once, a scruffy guy with a gun on a dark lonely road. She said," He's a hunter who's lost". Since you're hearing this story she was right.
