The horse that just won the Triple Crown is from the Windstar farm. That's across the street from my step grandparents home in Versailles, Kentucky. I live in Lexington, Kentucky some consider it to be the horse capital of the world. Lexington has battled with Ocala, Florida over that nickname.

Justify is a very nice horse, but he won the Belmont stakes in 2:28 and in 1973 Secretariat won in 2:24. Why do they call this sport "improving the breed"? It seems that the breed hit a peak 45 years ago that will never be surpassed.

According to Wikipedia there are four United States cities that meet the "Chamber of Commerce" criteria to claim the title "Horse Racing Capital of the World." The article did not name the other two cities. It is not even close – Lexington and the surrounding area deserves the title of Horse Racing Capital of the United States.

I have a brother who lives in Richmond, KY. I tried to visit him at least once a year during either April or October so that we can attend the races at Keeneland.

It was an awesome race! Justify really stands out from the crowd not just in his speed but also his color. What an animal!
