I have seen the following on Tinder and other dating sites recently, it cracks me up.

Lower your standards and send me/them a message.

I have never matched with a similarly worded profile, and I would not ask anyone to lower their standards to give me a chance.

I think I am a solid, warm, smart guy, with some stuff on the ball.

Either that's good enough or its not.

Isn't this weird?

If "this" is referencing "Lower your standards and . . . " Weird? No.
Desperate? Yes.

I just removed my tinder account after two weeks because the whole thing felt like a really bad choose your own adventure book but the choices were only things like "and this gym rat wants to smash you in a pay by the hour motel" or "this conservative cowboy would like you to get married and sit in the deer stand making him sandwiches and holding his Bud light." Nope, hard pass.

Hahaha! I don't blame you!

If someone doesn't lower their standards I'm screwed!

Everyone is searching for the same thing and can't find it...we live in a society that stopped communicating...due to high tech phones and tablets...no one goes out anymore unless money to spare..or your well off....you never look people in the eyes anymore...and most people are looking for nsa but lie about wanting more.....

I actually my girlfriend of 2+ years on Tinder.. I didn't know what it was seen as (the "hook-up" app) at first, so I just put myself out the three.
I say just put what you want if you use it, don't worry about needing to lower standards or whatever. It has potential but it's just how you see/use it, I guess?
That is crazy to see though, one should never lower their standards if they're within common-sense reason.

Tinder to me is mainly a meat market (yeah, I spelled that correctly). You get what you look for.

Seriously? Wow! Been single for 10 years now because I did that unknowingly why would I even consider doing that intentionally??? I am in shock.

I've found most of the dating sites seem to be a collection of the lowest common denominator, but YMMV. I seem to be most limited by being completely open about who/what I am, and having a thing for literate, intelligent, self-aware guys.

I get your point but some expectations are if not unrealistic then very high. One sticks in mind was a 48 year old BBW who wanted "Black fireman"

Man those sites suck! Full of catfish weirdos. I have given up.

Lower standards never made anything great. And that what people want. A great relationship with a great person. Not a meh relationship with an "okay, I guess" person. Those people asking for others to lower their standards bring nothing to the table, imo.

@ProudMerry I have lower standards for friendship than I do a partner and all my relationships are slow going. If we can build a solid friendship than my boundaries would adapt accordingly but without friendship there will be no date. So, I talk to everyone that IM's me and see where it goes from there.
