Kind Words.

I had a lovely thing happen to me today. I was in line in Starbucks this morning and the young lady in front of me turned around and said "you look great'. I was stunned because it came at a time that I was feeling particularly vulnerable. I am currently dealing with an auto-immune disease called Alopecia which means that I have lost about 50% of my hair (so far) in the last couple of months. I have a couple of bigly DT combovers in the front and look like Friar Tuck (from Robin Hood) from the back! It is an amazing look lol! Shaving my head is next in line I think! eek! But I digress. It reminded me of how much power a kind word has to a stranger or anyone for that matter.
I havn't done this myself in a while so it was a lovely reminder to use my kind words again, soon.

Sometimes people see things in us that we can't see. Hang in there, and my best to you.
p.s. You have the type of head that will look beautfiful bald!!

Nice words and thanks........I guess I will find out soon enough! 😀

You are so right. Little things like that can be so uplifting. Especially if you are feeling down about something. Turns your day right around. What a sweet person.

Yes she was/is. 😀

That is a wonderful experience. I love to hear such words in passing, proving again that there really are many wonderful people in this world.

Wow!! I have all my hair and nothing like that has ever happened to me. Congrats!

I've had a number of friends with Alopecia, both male and female. Honestly the ones that were the most appealing were the ones that just accepted it. No fake eyebrows, no comb overs. Just "I yam what I yam" type attitudes. I think it conveys an "If it doesn't bother me, why should it bother you?" Kind of unspoken message.

I think I'm going to have to hang out in Starbucks more often .. and work on my self conscious attitude!

Congrats again!!

What could be more gracious and uplifting for people, unknown to each other, to proffer selfless positivity, for no particular reason, at any time, anywhere. Good luck, with what must be for a woman, a fairly harrowing admission.

A friend of mine went through this. It eventually reversed and most of her hair grew back. Glad you got the unexpected morale booster, they are always welcome.

That was really beautiful and the randomness makes it even better. It is wonderful to run into people like this. It is interesting that sometimes some people can sense when you need a boost.

Yes I agree.

My cousin has had Alopecia since age 16. She wears wigs. The only problem is wigs are hot in the summertime.

Beautiful lady, you are not alone.

The bad thing is that in this #metoo era, men are probably less inclined to say anything like this.

Yes. But I am willing to accept that, at this point anyway, until the balance has been corrected. But I think that there has also been an element of that in society anyway.

Kind words spoken to you can definitely turn your world around.

I know your illness isn't humorous, but I (sort of) wish I had an illness where I lost all my body hair, as long as that's all it affected. We always want what we don't have.

I laugh about it every day. What else can I do. Try to always see the funny side. After all it is only hair. It could certainly be much worse! 😀

Yes, I find it's contagious. It is surprisingly lovely when that happens. When I receive a unexpected compliment out of the blue, like that, it reminds me to pay it forward shortly thereafter, to make someone else's day.

Yes. 😀

#Kindnesscounts. ❤

It absolutely does. You just never know how much of a difference it can make. 😀

You are beautiful. Never forget that.

Ohhhhhh! That is sweet. 😀
