That's extra pathetic. No matter what either of you have done, that's so sad, and lacks any type of backbone or character. If you did something he doesn't like, he should have sat you down and tried to work it out, and if you couldn't he should have sat down again and spoken with you. Text is just cowardly.

Sorry to hear, cowardly way to do it. I will share a story, will not make you feel better but shows some have no backbone. Back years ago my father would take my mother and her father and drop off at a mall. He shows up at my work one day with his boat in tow and tells me I have to go pick up my mother and grandfather. Tells me he is leaving and moving back to his home town. So I have to go and pick them up and tell my mother dad has left her. What a dick move.

Afraid of confrontation. Still unexceptable. Should be face to face or at least over the phone.
