No, but I would certainly question your sanity and decision making process.

Yes, of course, but correlation does not equal causation.

Not likely, though with the amount of sodium probably high blood pressure and heart problems

Yeah, added salt is a killer too. There's like 1,800mg of salt in a package of Ramen lol

Don't know, but I'm sure it will give you high blood pressure with all that sodium.

There are so many other factors that will play into developing DM2 (Diabetes Mellitus type 2). If it si truly a concern for you, may I suggest you bounce that question off a qualified medical practitioner? Maybe a GP and a dietician. It also depends on what else you are eating. Seriously if you eat nothing but Ramen Noodles all day every day DM2 is likely to be the least of your worries, malnutrition would be a much larger concern.

Although diet and obesity can be a contributing factor towards developing type 2 diabetes, it is by no means the only cause. It’s a common misconception. if it were so simple everyone who was overweight would have the disease and no one who wasn’t would not and that clearly isn’t the case.

You’d develop a host of other issues due to lack of proper nutrients, though.

Diabetes unfortunately is genetics. What one really need to do is to pick your parents very carefully ... (see what I did there??)

Mine was from long term steroid use

@LadyAlyxandrea In my case is genetics.... 8 sibilings and two of us were the lucky ones. My Dad gone but lived to see 80 because he was careful with his meds, one of my sisters gone at 49 and she had the most heathy life style anyone can have but to no avail. Me, I take my meds but don't get to stressed out about it. It will get me eventually and now I can feel the balance starts to take diabetes side. It's a cruel disease but, which one isn't? Having fun every day is the best course of action for me.

The noodles are really high in carbs. Carbs are what make you fat. They also spike blood sugar. So yes, you could develop type 2 diabetes. Other factors including genetics can cause it too. I had type 2, but no longer. Yes that can happen. You can reverse it. I had gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago, after 1 week, I was off 2 types of insulin and 2 oral diabetes meds. My blood sugar remains normal.

Please don't ask medical advice in an internet forum. Ask medical advice from a trained medical professional. In the case of diabetes, from an endocrinologist.

I'd be surprised if you'd live 20 years on that diet.

My theory is that one can develop diabetes without regard to what one eats. Diabetes is the dream condition of the healthcare industry. One can have it and live a relatively normal life into the 70s, 80s, even 90s. Imagine the money that person will spend on semi-annual A1C tests, prescription drugs, testing supplies in a year then multiply that by oh, say 50. Tens of thousands in revenue generated with little or no real effort. Dream condition!

Sad but true. Also true for the cancer industry (yes, I chose that term deliberately as well). Very sad that it's all an "industry" of sick care, not wellness care.

@poetdi56 I read an article recently that Cuba had a scientist who developed a vaccine for cancer. Imagine if that support starved country could have someone do that what then could the greatest nation on earth do if they weren't motivated by greed.

It can definitely be easier to acquire type II if you have a genetic history. But what people don't realize it's that the Western diet severely heightens your risk to getting it. Eating processed meat and foods are the danger. I have watched patients completely reverse their type II by eating a whole food diet

My mother "caught" type II diabetes a few years ago. She used to be the queen of packaged cakes. She watches everything she eats now. Every doctors checkup they tell her everything is fine. Her sugar is around 90-120 every single day.

I doubt the Ramen noodles have anything to do with a person developing diabetes. Type 1 diabetes cause is unknown. Type 2 diabetes cause is lack of exercise and obesity.

No, it isn’t, actually, only sometimes, it’s much more complex than that.

@Cassiopeia I live with Type 2. I don't understand what you are saying.

I have type 2 because if long term steroid use. There are a multitude of things that can cause type 2.

@LadyAlyxandrea There is a genetic component. There are two processes associated with Type 2 diabetes. Your pancreas may produce too little insulin, and cells in your body become resistant to insulin. Anything that damages the pancreas may contribute to diabetes.

@EdEarl yup, that's how the story goes.... For me it's type 2. My body produce enough insuline but it doesn't like it !!! I don't like myself !!! What a hell, what kind of perverse disease this is ???..... So, that's what the daily pill does, fools my body into liking my own insuline. I have done my own experiments by stopping my meds all together and try to keep my levels under control with diet and exercise ... The results have been a big mess in the span of 6 months tops. Conclusion, the damn pills are mandatory until I get killed ridding my motorcycle or my kidneys give up. I have placed bets in Vegas on the former choice....

@IamNobody I hope you win.

@EdEarl I have made peace with it. You and I know who will win.

@EdEarl I'm the only one in 5 generations to get diabetes

That's an oddly specific question, lol. 😛

Its within the realm of possibility. Not so much from the noodles but if someone is willing to eat these daily I am guessing they don't have a great diet over all.

1

I don't think diabetes is your worst problem if you are eating nothing but that, cat shit has more nutrition than top romen noodles. just saying.

1

I would guess yes, as well as a laundry list of other conditions.

It would be worth it

1

If it makes one gain enough weight, probably.

Consider in the context of your total diet. By themselves, the noodles have 26G of carbs, not much nutrition, and some shit chemicals. What else do you eat, family history, activity level. Though if you eat these every day, the likelihood of your dietary choices supporting long term health is near zero.

And then there's this:

"Ramen noodles are particularly unhealthy because they contain a food additive called Tertiary-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), a preservative that is a petroleum industry byproduct."

There is 1.3g of sugar in a package of Ramen Noodles. I doubt it.

[sugarscience.ucsf.edu]

Recommended limit of intake of added sugars per day for men is 38g. For women, it's 25g.

So unless you're eating 35-40 packages of Ramen a day, I doubt it. That would also be about 13,000 - 15,000 calories a day lol

It's weird how much the limited intake of sugar has gone up over the years. It's like they just pull these numbers out of the air depending on average usage.

According to this:

[divineeatingout.com]

"Now, the average person consumes 70 grams of fructose each day, which is a shocking 300 per cent above the daily recommended amount."

That would mean that the daily recommended intake of sugar would be about 23g.

So which numbers are right? These numbers always seem to change. So in 1700 people were consuming about 5g of sugar a day. So was the recommended intake not to exceed 8g of sugar then? Why wouldn't the recommended intake be much lower than 25-38g? There is more sugar related disease today than ever before and I would think certainly MUCH more than in 1700. In 2009, 50% of Americans were having 227g of sugar a day.

I would just be more amazed that you survived that!! Lol

You go ahead and try it and let us know, but it seems a dietary aide would already know it's risky behavior. Or are you already on year 19? 😉
