Missed a credit card payment for the first time in my life, and by only one day. I had the money, just forgot. Two weeks later they raise my credit line for "being loyal." What I could really use is that late fee refunded. ???

Yep. Call & ask for a waiver. Been there. Done that.

Give them a call and tell them the situation. They may just waive it. I’ve had that happen.

This is why I don't have a credit card. Banks are parasites, waiting like crocodiles in a waterhole for a sick animal to fall in.

I wish i could see how long ago you posted this (in case it's you know, over 3 months ago) but this has happened to me a few times and every time I've simply called, explained myself and they waived it. Mind you, I pay the bill in full every month and rarely go over the due date but if it ever happens again, give it a shot. You'd be surprised at how accommodating service providers can be if you call them with a smile on your face (literally) and ask for a break.

Capital One did that to me and I told them "Guess what's 'Not' in my wallet!"

As a former financial consultant, let me offer you this gem. Contact the credit card and set up the automatic draft for the minimum payment each month to be done the day before it is due. You will never miss a payment again. Now as to this late charge, call customer service and ask them to reverse the late fee since it is the first time. If they say NO, then tell them that you are going to open a card with another bank and pay off and cancel theirs. I've never heard it fail.

It is a trap! They are gonna own you.

@BigBoMclain Depends. Do you get wifi in your closet?

@BigBoMclain Well, pretty sure I'm not thinking what you are thinking. Gonna need wifi to max out those old credit cards and buy me all those things I could never afford. 🙂

Dump the credit cards and get debit ones. No fees..ever.
