I see the town of Chepstow, in Monmouthshire, South Wales, has been awarded the status of a "Plastic Free Town".
They celebrated by hanging a huge banner from its 13th century archway, declaring its newly awarded status to all and sundry.
In order to ensure the durability of the sign, it is made of ..... wait for it ..... Plastic

Well that's a sign of the future lol
clever observation, that! Lol
Of course it is! You have to wonder if those civic leaders patting themselves on the back even recognize the irony of that ...
They did when the media latched on!!
That's Wales for you
Beware, it's contagious.
Do you remember Max Boyce? "Go on then. Go and play your silly game. But if you break a leg, don't come running back to me."
sad sign of uninspired minds. it's the durability that causes the environmental drama. ... unless sculpted in stone.
The original plan was for a sign made of cotton, but it would have bio-degraded!
which i thought was the idea of going plastic-free, @Petter: let bio degrade what we used to use, but use no more.
I would think it would be next to impossible to have a completely plastic free area anywhere on this planet.
It's actually to celebrate the complete banning of micro plastics and single use plastics - but the irony was too good to miss.
@Petter
Yeah, that sign was single use!
You just cannot make this kind of stuff up.
