Absolutely, and you're right, not anything we as individuals can do about it except speak up. This is ugly at best, and very harmful to all involved, it HAS to stop.

Be vocal. Find out who represents you in government and let them know. Vote. Challenge others around you on this issue (as long as you feel safe to do so) . Lean on others for support: that's what we're here for!??

I was asked to give a workshop in Mexico some time ago. As I tried to enter the country at the airport I was denied. I was asked my purpose for being there and I said to present a workshop. The officer told me that was work related and I would need a work visa to come in. I did not get in and returned home. Later, people told me to always say that I am a tourist.

I have watched this first hand in Juarez when a mother had to leave her children in Texas while she was returned to Mexico for TEN years for having violated immigration laws. One of the saddest things I have every witnessed.
