I'm a marksman on the Bren machine gun, I was sailing secretary of the Victoria Nyanza Yacht club for many years, and I often wear a felt trilby.

You can always spot the guys that have no idea how to wear a hat. 
Somebody needs to teach them or they should just stop wearing hats.

Worse are the guys who don't even know which end of a cap is the front.
For those without a "father figure" to guide them in this, I'd refer them to the FB page; "The Art of Manliness". There's a good section on hats.
@Petter Should we really be lumping ball caps in with proper hats? Those guys are just waiting for their pants to fall a little bit farther and they are flat on their face.
