Can we be as vague as possible when posting a video or link? I Ignore those. Please give me some info as to what it is about!

Writing something interesting that will engage into good conversation take some work and other ingredients. We can try however, it's not easy to hit all cylinders all the time. Your comment on videos, spot on. It's just too easy.....

I agree.

I try oh Shadowy one, I try and let people know the content. It's usually to back up a comment I'm making. May your request go heeded by those that are suffering from vagueness 🙂

I am used to apps that carry the title and even a thumbnail with when I paste a link. It's easy to forget that this app strips away all such information, designating itself as just "link" when one hots control-v. I usually go back and edit back in some detail.

Agreed. I've brought this up before, to no avail. I actually think it should be mandatory, and all should be subject at least to community approval. And unlike approval for other types of posts, it should ask specifically if the description is good enough.

I agree. There's nothing more I hate than opening up 40 different threads only to find no relevance to me. I started ignoring lots of threads too.

I hear you there! This site is not bad. FB is. I read posts saying only "FML" or "Today sucked". You ask what is going on. Never reply. If it's too personal, why post? They get tons of likes, and comments. If someone knows what's going on, why post it as public? I used to be a grammar nazi, but no one cares. So now I don't.

@TheGreatShadow I have had the same experience with people on FB. They're annoying. When I have asked some people what's wrong because they posted a vague negative comment, I have gotten "Mind your business" or "Get off my page" sometimes. That's when I delete people. They're idiots.

@Piece2YourPuzzle Have you noticed that it's usually popular people that can talk to many IRL? That I don't get. If I post a rant, it's long, and in depth. No one has the patience to read a few paragraphs anymore. Or so it seems.

@TheGreatShadow I think they just want attention in the most shallow way.

@Piece2YourPuzzle It's like the boy who cried wolf. And yes, I think it's all about getting attention (and it works). Some people that are popular do this often, others that are popular are hardly on there. Busy doing stuff IRL. IRL verson of something that happened "dand I stubbed my toe". FB version "FML".

It's lazy. If people do it too often I block them.
Seriously, who cares that someone else liked a track on Youtube? I've got my own wishlist.

Owh, I quite like those ones; but still prefer some notes on what to expect and why it's being posted.

Totally agree, It's pretty easy to copy and paste a title and description.

4

Agreed. I refuse to click on a link without knowing anything about it. Scammers abound.

If someone posts a link and gives me no information as to what it is about, I simply don't click on it. These feel like "homework" to me: "read this/view this and then we'll talk." No thanks. It's probably the fact that i prefer reading to listening or watching; it's also the fact that I think it is important to be able to express oneself clearly in writing. If I can't figure out what specific issue is desired for discussion, I have no idea whether I can contribute, or even if I am interested.

I agree with every single point here. That's partly why I read a fraction of the online "news" that I used to. Er, I guess I mean, why I visit the sites so rarely now. Everything is a video. I prefer reading words.

Good idea. I pass over most of those.
