Some screws have natural elasticity and so accommodate all sizes of driver, others sadly don't and have become supersized so the driver rattles around like a dried pea in a tin can.
@FrayedBear And in some with a standard slot it becomes becomes clogged up and the screw requires replacement with a star slot. (this technique was, I believe, pioneered by Mr Phillips.)
