When I was 11 I watched the film "The Omen", scared the crap out of me. I was at a friend's house and when I got home I asked my mum to reassure me it was just a film. Nope, she told me it was all true and the antichrist was probably already born and waiting for his opportunity! I didn't sleep for 6 months! ? She even showed me the bible passages! Ever been that freaked out by religion?

Yes, every second of my childhood I thought I was going to say or do something wrong to fall into hell

What a horrible thing to do to a child. From what you've said about your mother on this site I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Peace

That’s a great movie...

Sad that happened to you. Parents are supposed to protect and comfort. She must have been so frightened when she was young.

When I was involved in it and studying to be a minister we all knew that this was true. Evangelicals have been matching up things in Revelation that point to the antichrist like forever. Pentecostals are the worst. I should know because I used to be one. Today I have no more faith in the bible than I do a comic book. At 16 and 17 it scared me to death.
Theists never give up. A religious friend of mine from the old days is trying to get me to look at the volcanoes in Hawaii as being something that was in the bible. No way! It makes me want to start laughing. Imagine "and there shall be volcanoes and rumblings of volcanoes."
But somehow we all just know that there is a child somewhere with 666 stamped into his head.

I was freaked out by The Exorcist, and I was 18!

My sister came to stay with me after attending religious day school and woke me up crying because demons were making her want to listen to rock music. I told my mom maybe her choice of school was a mistake.

Luckily, no. My parents were liberal United Methodist missionaries, very tolerant and pragmatic.
